make up from start to finish.

Since I currently have nothing better to do today, I thought I would show you each little step that I was taught when I learnt make up, starting from the very beginning.

1. Cleanse face.
This is an important step to ensure that you're working with a clean surface. Cleansing should including washing your face with a cleanser, use a scrub 3 times a week and moisturise. Apply a fine layer of non-oily sunscreen as well to protect your face.

That's not me, because I dont look that elegant cleansing my face. :)

Secret Weapons to Looking Gorgeous All Day

1. Pick a sponge tip eyeshadow brush.
With the skin getting oily during the day, your eyeshadow tends to crease into the fold, or transfer to your lower lids. to keep your eye make up in place, its not the type of eyeshadow or primer, its the brush. Fluffy synthetic brushes are the most prevalent eyeshadows brushes out there, but they cause shadow to dissipate faster. The sponge tip presses onto your skin instead of swishing the pigment.

2. Wear the right deodorant.
Look for an antiperspirant whose primary active ingredient is aluminum, as acts as a plug in the sweet glands, blocking sweat.

3. Keep a dry shampoo close.
Being inside with a air conditioner will cause your skin to get dry which triggers more oil production. Spray your hair with a little dry shampoo in the middle day to feel refresh and keep that oily shine away.

4. Prime before you apply a lick of make up.
If its one thing all make up artist agree on its 'not to prime is a crime'

make up colours that mix well.

Ever sit there staring at your make up colours thinking which colour do I chose and wondering which colours would suit each other if put together. If you have a colour palette like this one below, you probably find yourself in a similar situation.

look after your skin in summer

It’s not said enough, SUNSCREEN! This should be an essential part of your everyday skin care, not only in summer. But I’m still going to say it, apply sunscreen to all the exposed areas before you even think about stepping outside. The only different between summer and winter with UV rays is that you show more skin during summer than in winter so there is more to cover. After you get out of the shower in the morning on a summer day, before you get dressed into shorts and a singlet, apply sunscreen everywhere, this way you won’t miss anyway. Remember to play every 1 – 2 hours if you’re swimming or sweating. This isn’t as necessary in winter fortunately. In saying that, buy a new sunscreen every season.

Your body is constantly shedding skin cells so it’s important to keep that under control otherwise it will look dry and dull. Use a gentle exfoliant on your face every 2 days a week for dry skins and 3 days a week for oily skins. Ensure that it isn’t too harsh on the skin as it may end up damaging the acid mantle or causing broken capillaries. Use a body scrub on your body once a week, ensuring you apply lotion afterwards as this is the best time for it to soak into the fresh skin. Continue to use lofah gloves each time you shower with your body wash and this helps to slowly exfoliate away those dead skin cells and keep your skin smooth all year round.

If you want to be tanned for summer, I beg you… Please don’t cover yourself in coconut oil and lay out in the sun like they use to do. Get a professional spray or invest in a good at home spray or lotion. Find one that has had good reviews and works best for you. You’ll thank yourself when you’re older as it will slow down aging and lower your skin cancer risk.

Don’t forget to keep your lips protected, during winter they can become cracked from the wind. During summer, they can become cracked due to the heat and sun damage. Ensure you are constantly applying a lip balm or gloss that has at least SPF 15+ in it, this will help to keep them protected and moisturised.

Remember to drink your 8 glasses of water, more if needed to help keep your skin hydrated as well as your body. It’s a lot easier to lose fluid through perspiration during the hotter weather and your skin is the last organ to experience the benefits of hydration.

If you have drier skin, it is important to keep your skin moisturised and ensure that you are using the right sort. It should absorb well and not leave an oily layer and should contain antioxidants to protect your skin from UV rays and free radicals.

Try to op for a light foundation or tinted moisturiser during the summer months and keep your make up natural. Use a waterproof eyeliner and mascara if you intend to be spending your time in the sun or in the water. If you are sweating off your makeup, don’t rub or wipe it but dab it with wipes that are made for soaking up sweat but not rubbing off the makeup. Also powder your foundation before applying other products.

extra make up tips

To maximize your mascara, wipe the brush with dry paper towel every fortnight to keep it performing like new, loosen the formal by running the tube under water with the lid closed and don’t ever pump the mascara as it dries it out.
It is best to start apply mascara at the base of your lashes and work your way up.
For a more natural looking make up, use products with water in them as their first ingredient such as light weight foundations and tinted moisturisers.
Your lips get dryer with age, but tinted balms and lipsticks bring back moisturise and 75% of women say that lipstick boost their confidence
Define your eyes with a waterproof eyeliner if glitter and mascara irritates your eyes.
To look good in photos, overdose in mascara, contour under your cheek bones and underneath the chin and lighter powder down the centre of the face to highlight.

make up tips

here's a few make up tips that ive learnt along the way,

Always remove your make up at night. Remove the eye make first using an eye makeup remover and than the rest.
Apply acne treatments before applying your make up or moisturiser.
Do the eye makeup first before applying foundation to the face, but it is important to apply foundation to the eye area before beginning the eye makeup as well as primer.
Rub a tiny bit of foundation into lips, and powder lightly before applying your lipstick.
Make up brushes need to be washed every two weeks
Your brows define the shape of your face, focus on them regularly and pluck any stray hairs that may pop between eyebrow waxing treatments
Apply glitter on the corner of the eyes to give a diva look.
Red lippie makes teeth look whiter.
A pale, sheer, shimmery shadow applied to the inner corner of the eye makes eyes look fresh and awake and sparky.
Highlight underneath your brow arch and a little white pencil/shadow, this will make your brows look amazing.
Make your lips appear fully by applying a spot of gloss over your lippy in the centre of the body lip only.
You should always apply sunscreen when you’re going outside underneath your make up, but be sure to remember that sunscreen will make your face white so avoid it in ‘photography make up’
Brushes are found to be a better use to apply foundation, as the sponges absorb your make up. A patting motion will also give you more coverage.
Apply blush before you applying the setting powder to the face.
Apply bronze along the hairline, under the cheek bone, and on the chin & nose.
Apply a white pencil on the centre of your eyelid, just above the pupil to open up your eye.
When applying eyeliner, it should be thinner at the inner corner and thicker on the outer. You should also apply white eyeliner on the inner lash line on the bottom. Bring the eyeliner out if you want to give the illusion of longer lashes.
When using a curly wand, blast the blow dryer on your lashes for a second for a curling iron effect and always curl before mascara.
Use a lighter blue than your eye colour to make blue eyes pop.
Curl your eyelashes straight after the shower, the warm water makes the fragile hair pliable so they're easy to curl and less prone to break

some inspiraing make up, not sure who it was done by but it wasn't me.
